The work in the Gallery Section is available for purchase through me or through one of the Galleries that exhibits my work. The STAINED GLASS is painted with layers of black and brown vitreous paints, blended with water and gum arabic, then more layers mixed with lavender oil are applied. Once the paint effects are satisfactory, the glass is fired at high temperatures in a kiln to fuse the paint into the body of the glass. It may then be silver stained, etched and engraved. Once each piece of glass is decorated in these ways, the window is leaded, soldered and puttied. Birds in Flowers is an ongoing passion of mine and I have done many originally designed commissions for specific gifts for weddings and others for decor. If you want to give some lovebirds to some lovebirds, let's talk! The Victorian Painted Birds harken back to the late 1800s Arts and Crafts era, during which Glaziers painted bevelled medallions with birds, and surrounded them with decorative coloured glass. The glass in my series shown here is recovered from local heritage stained glass windows - glass I have saved from restorations and from windows discarded by homeowners. My COLOURED PENCIL and PASTEL work is done with the highest quality pigments on acid free black backgrounds.
