Lynette Richards

Lynette Richards graduated from H.B. Beal Tech in London Ontario in 1979 with a Special Arts Diploma - Honours.  She worked for over a decade in the Graphic Arts and Printing Industry.

In 1995, she began working with Stained Glass following a mystical experience at a Quaker meeting where light falling through glass presented itself as a metaphor for spirit passing through matter.  She sought a teacher and completed a 3-year Apprenticeship with European-trained Stained Glass Master Ted Goodden. She loves to study the history, stories and techniques of Medieval to contemporary Stained Glass. She also loves Art History, Architecture, Religious study, and Mythology. She blends her knowledge and experience in her art.

Lynette exhibits regularly in galleries.  "I love using the traditional techniques of painting and drawing layers of black onto coloured glass.  When I illustrate new ideas using ancient techniques I feel like I am participating in the revelation of new inspiration, honouring the past and blessing the future."  She deals head-on with the presence of fear, anxiety, depression and despair, yet in her life and art she emphasizes the quiet omnipresence of grace in nature and in the lives ordinary people.

She has served on the Organizing Committee of the London Artists Studio Tour for many years and participates in it each Spring.  She has been a guest curator for exhibitions at the Forest City Gallery, The Arts Project and other venues.  Lynette serves on the Board of Directors of the UWO King's College Centre for Creativity.  She was an original member and continues to serve on the committees of UWO Brescia College Women's Spirituality Circle, The CIRCLE.  Lynette has served on Boards of Housing Co-ops, Food Co-ops, Community Supported Agriculture initiatives, and Childbirth and Parenting groups.

Lynette believes that all work is 'service work', whether paid or unpaid, and involves herself in many projects to benefit our society and the world.
